Greetings and welcome to the new Bob Billingslea School of Hospitality Management!
We are preparing students for leadership and management roles in the industry of global hospitality, by equipping them with transformative experiences, knowledge, and skills. Hospitality Management at Bethune-Cookman has a standard of excellence. We are one of the first programs to be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA), the premier accrediting body for programs in hospitality administration.
Our students gain exposure to the hospitality industry via mandatory internships, study abroad experiences and professional development activities. They develop their real-world skillsets in student-managed on-campus facilities representing events, restaurant, and hotel in our facility simulated environment.
Students leave prepared to take on leadership roles in hospitality in a variety of areas including:
- Events and entertainment and recreation management
- Lodging operations management, vacation ownership, cruise ship operations
- Global and sustainable tourism
- Hospitality entrepreneurship and business ownership
- Revenue management and hospitality analytics
- Food service management
Conference , meetings, and club management
Our facilities include high technology, the Hyatt collaboration room, the Wyndham Learning Center, fully-equipped culinary lab, the Cub Paradise restaurant, state of the art conference and event space and meeting rooms. In the future, we have the vision to create a museum of history to capture the highlights and historical evolution of Daytona Beach's mark in the hospitality industry. The WAVE of the Century, an educational destination attracting students who are looking for more than the ordinary and producing extraordinary talent for the growing market.
Ultimately, the new School of Hospitality will be a “Center of Excellence” in Hospitality with a presence in the famous Daytona Beach, the mecca of Hospitality, unparalleled by any such programs. We have a stellar Hospitality advisory board with representation from all the major sectors of the industry; strong alumni recognition and an excellent track record with our industry partners; creating a strong network for both our current students and graduates. I look forward to welcoming you, prospective students, parents, and guests to visit with us and learn more about our school and what we have to offer. The Bob Billingslea School of Hospitality Management is destined for greatness, come and join us!
Hospitably yours,
Deanne Williams-Bryant Ed.D.
