B-CU Mourns Loss of Student

Update: It is with saddened hearts that Bethune-Cookman University reports the loss of one of its students, Damian Parks.  Parks’ body was found on the beach shore early this morning, nearly 24 hours after he was reported missing.  B-CU asks that you send up prayers for his mother, family and friends.  “This is a sad moment for our university.  We never want to hear of students losing their lives.  I grieve not only as the president of B-CU, but more importantly as a parent.  My condolences go out to Damian’s mother and his family,” says President Edison O. Jackson.  B-CU is offering grief counseling for those in need in the Adams Alumni Infirmary.  There will also be a prayer circle today at 11:15 a.m. on the Quad at B-CU.  The chaplaincy will be present.

Update: Today, we mourn the loss of a young Wildcat, Mr. Damian Parks.  We ask that you keep his family, friends and loved ones in prayer. 

Original Story: Bethune-Cookman University student Damian Parks was reported missing around 3 a.m. this morning from the shores of Sun Splash Park on Daytona Beach.  The Volusia County Beach Patrol launched a search for the student and, at the time of this statement, have not found him.  B-CU staff and students gathered at the beach earlier and are still hopeful for the safe return of Damian Parks. The B-CU Department of Public Safety is working with the Daytona Beach Police Department and beach patrol on this case.
