The Kellogg Foundation, Dr. Gail Christopher To Address Structural Racism at upcoming Lecture Series at Bethune-Cookman University

Daytona Beach, Fla. – The Petrock College of Health Sciences at Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) will host its Executive Dean Lecture Series featuring Dr. Gail Christopher on Friday, February 13.  Dr. Christopher is a nationally-recognized leader in health policy, with extensive experience in the issues related to social determinants of health, health disparities and public policy issues.  She will provide attendees an in-depth look into issues that are directly affecting B-CU and its surrounding community including socio-economic disparities, access to healthy food and education.  The lecture series is free and open to the public.  The event is at the Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center (698 West International Speedway Blvd. Daytona Beach, FL 32114) and will begin at 11:15 a.m.  Click here for Free tickets

Dr. Christopher is the leading force behind the Kellogg Foundation’s racial equity approach, which includes the America Healing initiative – a $75 million, five-year program that supports racial healing in communities and works to dismantle structural racism. Currently, there are more than 120 nationwide community-based progression efforts among racial and ethnic groups to address historic burdens and remove barriers to opportunity. Their efforts focus on increasing opportunities for children in education, health and economic security.

Dr. Christopher is equipped with many years of experience.  She was previously vice president of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies’ Office of Health, Women and Families in Washington, D.C. In addition, she was guest scholar in the governance studies department at The Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., and executive director of the Institute for Government Innovation at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge, Mass. She has additional experience at the National Academy of Public Administration, Howard University School of Divinity, Americans All National Education Program, and Family Resource Coalition of America.
