B-CU Student Chosen for Leadership Florida

Kevin Lewis, a senior education major in the School of Education, has been selected to participate in Class XVI of the College Leadership Florida Institute. The six-day program will be held in Orlando in August.

“I am excited to meet future leaders of the state of Florida, as well as listen to current leaders who will mentor and speak on how to address issues that our state face now and will face in a few years,” Lewis said. “I am also thankful for this opportunity because I don’t see myself as a prototypical leader. But if you can just be yourself, work hard, excel in the classroom, maximize your potential, pray and believe you can do anything.”

Lewis, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., served as vice president for the Council of Exceptional Children at Bethune-Cookman University. The organization was formed to enlighten the student body about students with exceptionalities and to eliminate bias  against such students. 

In addition, Lewis, a former member of the B-CU track and field team, was named a MEAC All-Academic, has been on the President’s List four times, has an associate degree in liberal arts and is a member of the B-CU Honors College.
