B-CU WELCOMES NOTABLE BLACK MEN FOR 2ND ANNUAL MALE EMPOWERMENT SUMMIT

The University Will Host Roland Martin, Pastor Marvin Winans, Smokie Norful and Others for the
Three-day Conference

Daytona Beach, FL – Bethune-Cookman University is investing in the lives of the young men on their campus, as well as, within the community.  The university will host its 2nd Annual Male Empowerment Summit this week, Wednesday, April 29th – Friday, May 1st.  This year’s speakers include: President Edison O. Jackson, News One Now correspondent Roland Martin, Pastor Marvin Winans, gospel star Smokie Norful, Rhodes Scholar and FSU All-American Dr. Myron Rolle, NFL star Maurice Clarett and B-CU head football coach Terry Sims.  The three day event will feature several keynotes, panel discussions and activities for attendees.  The 2nd Annual Male Empowerment Summit is free and open to the public.

B-CU is excited to host this summit.  The organizers of the event feel strongly about the impact these types of venues offer men, especially the younger generation.  “There is so much going on in this country that is negatively impacting us as Black men.  We have to come together to encourage, educate and empower each other to go out and do great things,” says Brendan Johnson, summit chair.  “This has to happen now and it needs to happen often.”  The event will kick off with a conference opener with gospel artist Smokie Norful on Wednesday night in the Heyn Chapel.  The summit line-up is as follows:
