McFadden Named Senior Policy Advisor for Presidential Initiatives

Bethune-Cookman University President Dr. Edison O. Jackson is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Claudette McFadden as Senior Policy Advisor for Presidential Initiatives. McFadden has been functioning in this capacity for many months.

For more than 23 years, McFadden has served the university as department chair for Speech Communication and Theatre Arts, dean of the Center for Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility, the director of Title III and Sponsored Programs, vice president for Student Affairs and associate provost in the Division of Academic Affairs.    

As Senior Policy Advisor for Presidential Initiatives, McFadden’s responsibilities include serving as project manager for the Reinvigorate Values Project, working closely with the School of Graduate Studies on the implementation of the university’s MOU with the League of Black Women, and providing oversight and direction for the university’s new Young Fatherhood Institute. she serves as the university’s representative for the Daytona Beach F.A.I.T.H. Justice Ministry and chairs the Financial Competence and Student Loan Success Committee.

In addition, McFadden also serves as the University’s resource person for the communication and identification of Fulbright, Rhodes, Eisenhower and Woodrow Wilson scholarships and grants opportunities for faculty, and as mentor to students selected as Presidential Fellows.

She is a tenured full professor with degrees in Speech Communication and Theatre Arts and Human Communication (Rhetoric and Public Address) and served as President of the University’s Faculty Association for two years. She is also the recipient of a variety of awards and honors including Outstanding Educator, Teacher of the Year, the Innovators Award, and is the two-time recipient of the President’s Award.
